Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a psychological therapy designed to help people process distressing or traumatic experiences that may still feel “stuck” or unresolved.
Sometimes, difficult experiences from the past can continue to affect how we feel in the present, even when we understand them logically. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories so they feel less distressing and more manageable.
How EMDR can help
EMDR can be helpful for:
Trauma and PTSD
Distressing or overwhelming life experiences
Difficult childhood experiences e.g. bullying
EMDR can help reduce the emotional intensity linked to past experiences and support a more balanced sense of self in the present.
What to expect in EMDR sessions
In sessions, we will:
Identify experiences that are currently affecting you
Explore thoughts, emotions, and body sensations linked to the distressing experience
Use structured bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) to process stuck memories
Work at a pace that feels safe and manageable
You are always in control of the process, and we will ensure you feel grounded and supported throughout.
My approach
I offer EMDR in a calm, contained, and collaborative way. Safety and stability are always prioritised, and together we will ensure you feel ready before moving into any processing work.
